It’s that time of year again – grilling season! Food cooked over a fire is one of those timeless, simple pleasures that somehow manage to make everything better. We’d like to share some safety tips that will help you to keep having a great time.

First, it’s important to use your grill in an open, well-ventilated area. Of course, it’s fine to store your grill in an enclosed space, (once it’s cooled down!) but it can be dangerous to use a grill too close to your house, stairways, or deck railing. Ventilation is also important in that charcoal grills are known to give off carbon monoxide, which can be dangerous to you.

Second, make sure your grill is always in good condition before using it. Propane grills, for example, have additional hoses, connections, and heating elements that translate into additional maintenance needs.
